Cork Christmas Markets 2025 — Full Guide
Every winter, Cork turns into a little festive world of its own. The lights come on, the food stalls start filling the streets, and the whole city gets that cozy Christmas feel. The 2025 season is expected to run from 14 November right until 31 December, so whether you’re coming early or closer to Christmas week, you’ll find something going on.
Although the Corkmas festival lasts till the end of the month, the main markets—especially the famous one at Emmet Place—usually stay open for a slightly shorter stretch. Most years, they’re busy throughout mid and late December when crowds really pick up.
Main Christmas Markets in Cork (2025)

1. Emmet Place Corkmas Christmas Market
This is the one most people think of when they picture Christmas in Cork. Small wooden huts, warm lights, mulled drinks, chocolates, handmade gifts—everything that sets the Christmas mood.
Most local guides list it running until around 22 December 2025, and honestly, that last weekend before it closes is the most lively.
2. Corkmas Festival Areas (City Centre)
The broader Corkmas festival usually spreads across the centre, starting 14 November and going right up to 31 December. This includes the Ferris wheel, music, street shows, and the Santa experience. If you’re walking through in the evening, you’ll feel the energy straight away.
3. Nano Nagle Place Artisan Markets
If you prefer quieter, more handmade-style shopping, Nano Nagle Place is perfect. Their craft markets are typically held over two weekends—expected to be
6–7 December and 13–14 December.
Artists, candles, pottery, small gifts… all the good stuff.
4. Christmas Markets Around County Cork
Outside the city, places like Mallow, Macroom, and Cobh host their own Christmas fairs and tree-lighting evenings. These are more relaxed, with a community feel, and great if you want something less crowded.

What You’ll Find at the Markets
Most stalls bring a warm mix of Irish crafts, candles, scarves, sweet treats and winter snacks. The air usually smells like cinnamon and hot chocolate. The weather can be a bit unpredictable—rain comes and goes—so a warm jacket and a hood won’t hurt.
Travel Tips
- City centre gets crowded on weekends, especially after 6 pm.
- Use buses or the park-and-ride if possible—parking fills fast.
- Santa attractions and the Ferris wheel are better booked ahead.
- If you want photos without the crowds, try going around 4–5 pm on weekdays.
